Everything you could ever hope for in a new home can be found right here on the beautiful Gold Coast.

Farms and forests surround the outer areas of the Gold Coast, while the city has more canals and waterways than Venice. In this idyllic landscape with a near perfect climate, outdoor pursuits like walking, cycling and water sports play a big part in the city’s lifestyle.

With tens of thousands of international students from all across the globe choosing to make the Gold Coast their second home you can be assured of enjoying a richly diverse lifestyle within a supportive local culture. A third of the city’s residents were born overseas, creating a truly multicultural city, but it’s the Gold Coast’s laid back lifestyle that has earned us the reputation of being one of the most welcoming and liveable cities.

With our world-class education and training facilities, the Gold Coast is simply a wonderful place to study. In 2019 the Gold Coast was ranked as the #1 city for student affordability in Australia with rental accommodation costs on average 40% cheaper than Sydney.

Why I Choose the Gold Coast -

The people of the Gold Coast are very warm, it's an inclusive society. Most importantly I feel like I can be myself, which is important for the student experience. Diversity means asking questions about different cultures, about different beliefs, about different ideas and listening to other people that are different to yourself. I'd like to think that I respect all people - people from different backgrounds, people of different faiths, people of different genders. We're all in this together and it's better to love one another than be divisive.

Why I Choose the Gold Coast -

I love living on the Gold Coast. The people are very friendly, but they're also ambitious. I've met a lot of people here who have dreams about achieving great things in their life. Diversity is a range of cultures sharing each other's differences. It's about getting to know each other through a diversity of languages and experiences as well as race.

Whether you're going out for dinner in Chinatown or enjoying a picnic by the beach, you will notice you're always welcome and part of the community.

The Gold Coast community is made up of many different cultures, age groups and types of people. Many groups exist across the city based on people's common interests. These form smaller communities that others can support or become part of.

Joining sports clubs, signing up for arts and crafts classes, or learning a new skill are just some of the ways you can become more involved in the many communities that make up the Gold Coast.

Don't be scared to reach out to new people or try something you wouldn't usually do at home. The Gold Coast is a place in which you can always feel relaxed.

THEME PARKS AND WILDLIFE SANCTUARIES

Giant rollercoasters and exciting shows can be found at the Gold Coast's theme parks; Warner Bros, Movie World, Sea World, Wet'n'Wild and Dreamworld. Yearly passes and multi-park passes can make visiting these parks cheap and easy, too.

True animal lovers could also choose to visit Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary for an up-close look at Australia's unique wildlife. You might find yourself covered in Rainbow Lorikeets, patting a Kangaroo, or being hugged by a friendly Koala.

Be sure to leave a full day free for each of these fun-filled attractions, wear plenty of sunblock, and pack your fully charged camera!

Mountains on the Gold Coast offer great walking tracks, with waterfalls and freshwater swimming holes found in Currumbin Valley. Springbrook National Park is another wonderful place to explore, with many birds and animals as well as beautiful views of the Southern Gold Coast.

Other biodiverse areas can be found on the Northern Gold Coast's islands of North and South Stradbroke, which you can catch a ferry to access and enjoy a sunny day, a BBQ with friends, and maybe even spot some local wildlife like wallabies and lizards.

NEIGHBOURHOOD IN FOCUS — BURLEIGH HEADS

Surfers Paradise might be the Gold Coast’s city hub, but Burleigh Heads is its heart. A welcoming community feeling is found here, right next to the beach and headland that have some of the best views in the region.

It’s impossible not to be relaxed here, but despite feeling like a relaxed beach town during the day, Burleigh Heads doesn’t go to sleep early at night, with bars and restaurants offering great food and entertainment.

On the weekends, Burleigh Heads is filled with energy. Take a coastal bush walk to Currumbin Creek, enjoy the weekend markets that take place here, or simply ride a bicycle around the streets enjoying another day in paradise.
