Join Our Human Rainbow

The Gold Coast is a city that accepts, nurtures and embraces diversity amongst our community - we open our arms to people from all around the world.

Our international student community is comprised 25 000 students who have travelled from over 130 different countries to be here and call the Gold Coast their second home.

They love and appreciate the welcome they receive and because of that they become champions for our city.

They have their own stories too, stories they want to share with the rest of the world.

On Wednesday 4th April all of the Gold Coast community is invited to celebrate what it means to live in our beautiful part of the world and to embrace diversity.

And by sharing their stories, the personal becomes familiar and universally accepted. And that’s the heart of what embracing diversity really is – knowledge and acceptance.

That rainbow will be formed on Kurrawa Beach right in front of the broadcast media site on the morning of the Opening Ceremony for the Commonwealth Games. Sunrise, the ABC and the BBC will all be there.

And we want you to be there too. This is a celebration of our students and our community and we want as many people as we can to join us to be a part of that.

So spread the word through your professional networks, through your social media channels, your families, your friends, community groups – everyone and anyone who wants to be a part of something good.

We’re thinking of it like the warm up party before the opening ceremony. The event will be filmed, there’ll be a free breakfast, prizes and giveaways. Prizes include:

• A $1000 gift voucher thanks to Bonds
• A $500 Cotton On voucher
• Tickets to the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony

Giveaways include clothing from Bonds and Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.

Most importantly of all it’s a once in a lifetime chance for us to send a message out to the world about the Gold Coast.

With the city about to become front and centre on the world stage we want to make a significant statement about who we are. We are a city that embraces diversity.
