Very’ pleased to support next generation of PR professionals


When Melinda Rogers and Michael Jacobson created Very Media they wanted it to be more than just another communications company on the Gold Coast.

One of the priorities was to give back to the industry they love. This includes helping businesses tell their own stories and by supporting the next generation of industry professionals.

Very Media was founded in 2017 by Michael and Melinda, two of the most experienced, dedicated and respected content specialists you could hope to find.

Michael is a multiple award-winning journalist and best-selling novelist. Before co-founding Very Media he was the senior feature writer for the Gold Coast Bulletin for more than 20 years. His weekly column, which he still writes, is one of the longest-running columns in Australia.

Melinda is an award-winning journalist, digital communications strategist, and university tutor in public relations.

Since launching 12 months ago, Very Media has recognised the value of supporting internship opportunities through Griffith University.

“It’s a win-win situation for businesses and interns. An internship arrangement is the ideal blend between professional expertise, young aspiration and a shared commitment,” Melinda said.

“It’s a privilege to support these young people in this early stage of their careers by showing them just how diverse a public relations and marketing career can be, and how adaptability is key to success.

“As a company we recognise how the knowledge, skills and abilities of the brightest and best PR people will always evolve, which is why we are confident the future is in good hands with the calibre of talented students that we have dealt with so far.”

Over almost 40 years in media and communications, Michael has seen many changes and trends. However, he said the one constant is the importance of credibility and quality.

“At Very Media we fully understand that our reputation is built upon enhancing the reputation of our clients,” Michael said.

“In the past year we have been engaged by clients in the higher education, tourism, legal and fitness sectors. Whether these are large organisations or small businesses, that overriding principle remains.”
