Pathways to Success
24 Nov 2022
The one goal that every student wants to achieve is a career once they’ve attained their qualification, which is why educational institutions are increasingly investing in experienced professionals to support and guide students with the essential knowledge to find the right career education and employment pathways.
And while the job titles of these professionals may vary from guidance officers to department heads and industry liaison officers, all have the same objective - helping students to make informed choices in reaching their goals.
In recognising the vital role these professionals play in the education sector Study Gold Coast created the Careers Alliance Network, providing opportunities to discuss career and employment related topics, share best practice knowledge and facilitate networking connections with likeminded professionals.

The final Careers Alliance Network event for 2022 was hosted by Australian Pacific College and GrayClay Health and Medical Aesthetics College at the former’s campus in Surfers Paradise. APC and GrayClay joined Study Gold Coast at the same time, and as Australian Pacific College’s Campus Manager Rachel Hawkins pointed out, both institutions have had many shared synergies and experiences as they’ve grown together through their Study Gold Coast membership.
The team from GrayClay, led by CEO Jacqueline Clayton, delivered a skin care workshop to highlight the many career opportunities in their field. The GrayClay trainers demonstrated a range of treatments, including the fat reduction technique Trusculpt and dermatoscopy scans to assess skin damage. Jacquie says that GrayClay graduates skilled in these types of procedures are in such high demand that employers are continually contacting her asking when the next intake of students will be graduating. It’s a nice problem to have.
Styling up
The other workshop was hosted by personal fashion stylist Kerrie Carucci, who deconstructed the fundamentals of styling with the Careers Alliance team as she talked about the nature of her work and career. After originally pursuing a career as an engineer, Kerrie’s natural eye for detail and passion for fashion led her to change careers a few years ago and she now provides services that include editorial, advertorial and campaign styling, as well as personal styling for men and women. Kerrie has since gone on to be featured in Marie Claire and recently worked with celebrity stylist Donny Galella for the Logie Awards.
With Australian Pacific College’s Gold Coast campus offering numerous design-based qualifications in graphic design, interior design and fashion design, Kerrie’s achievements in her field highlighted the potential for students wanting to pursue design careers.
