Sport has always played a big part in Martin Ebata’s life. Growing up in Sweden Martin was an elite junior tennis player who may have been destined for big things, but ultimately the fiercely competitive environment took its toll on the budding young talent and he decided to pursue a different path for his future.
Martin began looking for study options overseas and after friends had recommended Australia as an ideal destination Martin enrolled in Sports Development at TAFE on the Gold Coast. After graduation Martin moved to Japan, to gain a better understanding of his father’s homeland and to start his coaching career by developing up and coming tennis hopefuls.
Now with the Tokyo Olympics just around the corner sport continues to be a big presence in Martin’s life, although the fate of the Games is hanging in the balance thanks to a global pandemic and life in Japan has changed considerably since Martin first arrived there.
