Wayan Sastrayana comes from the small and remote village of Demulih on the beautiful Indonesian island of Bali. Wayan first came to the Gold Coast to study English at Imagine Education and then after going home again he returned to enrol for a Certificate IV in Engineering at TAFE Gold Coast’s Ashmore campus.
Wayan’s experience on the Gold Coast has been truly transformative, with the once shy international student lacking in confidence later graduating to carve out his career through a number of roles before landing his dream job with local waste management company JJ Richards - but that’s not to say that there weren’t one or two mishaps along the way, as he reveals in his story.
