New Owner For BROWNS

For almost 20 years BROWNS English Language School has been teaching international students in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast. With an alumnus of more than 35,000 students BROWNS is the largest English Language school in Queensland, winning many export awards through their world-class English language education, so it was a surprise to many that BROWNS was recently acquired by professional services training specialist Monarch Institute.

Melbourne based Monarch Institute is one of Australia’s largest family-owned professional service training organisations. The company’s CEO Nick Chapman says the move is a natural strategic fit as both brands share the same values in providing a high quality and highly regarded student experience embedded within innovative technology.

Strategic fit

“We’ve been looking for a business opportunity with the right strategic fit for us”, the Monarch CEO says. “The addition of BROWNS comes after an extensive search of the education market and at the cusp of the rebuild and redevelopment of the international sector.”

As part of the Monarch family, BROWNS will provide the perfect springboard for the reopening of the sector and a much-needed boost to the local economy. As Queensland’s leading ELICOS provider for adults and young learners, it has direct pathways to more than 115 Queensland schools and further education.

Sector to rebound quickly

Nick Chapman believes that the ELICOS sector will be the first education segment to rebound after the pandemic and as such BROWNS was a very attractive business prospect for Monarch.

“With Australia’s need for workers and skilled migration we’ll see many international enrolments looking to improve their English language skills and with a compelling offering for well credentialled education I’ve no doubt our education and training sector will rebound quickly after the pandemic”, the Monarch CEO said.

BROWNS will continue to operate under its existing name and former Managing Director Richard Brown will continue to work with Monarch as an advisor to ensure a seamless transition with face-to-face classes commencing under the new ownership in June.
